About the Role

  • We need a Senior 3D Character Artist to own character creation end to end for our upcoming MMO title.
  • You will translate conceptual guidelines and top down visual targets into fully realized, engine ready characters.
  • You will work directly with the Art Director to conduct visual and technical R&D.

What You'll Own

  • Full lifecycle character art: R&D, high poly sculpting, low poly retopology, UV mapping, baking, texturing and engine integration.
  • Characters and creatures that read clearly at top down camera distances while adhering to strict MMO real time performance budgets.
  • Translating 2D concepts into a distinct stylized realism aesthetic.
  • Establish and document the character art pipeline from DCC to Engine.
  • Ensure clean, animation ready topology.
  • Set and maintain standard naming conventions, export standards, and folder structures.
  • Own the visual quality benchmark for all character assets.
  • Proactively identify technical or visual bottlenecks.

Must Have

  • 8+ years of 3D Character art experience in games.
  • At least 1 2 shipped titles where you owned the character pipeline or operated in Senior capacity, including at least one shipped MMO or high end mobile title.
  • Deep expertise in ZBrush, 3Ds Max/Maya/Blender, and the Substance 3D Suite.
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong grasp of stylized realism aesthetic.
  • High degree of production autonomy.
  • Strong professional maturity.

Strong Advantage

  • Deep engine integration experience (Unity/Unreal/Proprietary Engine), including custom shader setup and material optimization.
  • Previous experience establishing character guidelines or Top Down visual targets.
  • Basic understanding of rigging constraints.

What This Is Not

  • A junior or mid level support role.
  • Pure execution. You will be expected to make pipeline decisions.
  • A studio with a fully established process.

Portfolio Requirements

  • Your application must include a reel or portfolio showing final, in engine character renders.
  • Wireframe turnarounds and UV/Texture sheet breakdowns.
  • Stylized or stylized realism work strongly preferred.
  • Examples of characters designed for a top down or isometric camera angle are a massive bonus.
