Job Description
The School Bus Driver is responsible for safe student transportation, supervision, vehicle readiness, and compliance with school and transport requirements.
The role is line managed by the Facility Manager and Transport and Housekeeping Supervisor.
Key Duties
- Transport children to and from school in the mornings and afternoons.
- Verify permissions for children travelling home with friends.
- Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus.
- Obey traffic laws and inspect the bus before and after each route.
- Ensure student safety and supervision, including assistance with boarding and leaving the bus.
- Manage student behavior when required to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
- Attend monthly safety meetings and carry current RTA approvals on all trips.
- Complete other tasks required by the school or regional office for smooth daily operations.
Safeguarding and Compliance
- The school requires commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- All post holders are subject to vetting procedures, references, and satisfactory criminal background checks or equivalent.
- Background checks or equivalent must cover the previous 10 years of employment history.
