The Role
We are seeking an experienced
Reservoir Engineering Manager
to lead reservoir engineering strategy, subsurface evaluation, field development planning, production optimization, reserves management, and reservoir performance analysis.
The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership across reservoir studies and development programs, integrating dynamic reservoir behavior, production data, geological models, pressure information, and economic considerations to maximize recovery and asset value.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement reservoir engineering strategies aligned with asset and corporate objectives.
- Lead reservoir engineering activities across exploration, appraisal, development, and production assets.
- Manage reservoir characterization, performance evaluation, depletion planning, and recovery optimization.
- Integrate geological, geophysical, petrophysical, production, pressure, and reservoir engineering data.
- Evaluate reservoir fluid properties, pressure behavior, drive mechanisms, connectivity, compartmentalization, and recovery potential.
- Develop and maintain material balance models and reservoir performance assessments.
- Lead reservoir simulation studies and ensure appropriate model construction, calibration, validation, and uncertainty assessment.
- Review static and dynamic reservoir models and ensure consistency with available subsurface and production data.
- Conduct history matching and investigate differences between modeled and actual reservoir performance.
- Develop production forecasts, recovery estimates, depletion scenarios, and field performance projections.
- Evaluate reservoir development concepts and recommend optimal well locations, well spacing, completion strategies, and production plans.
- Support field development plans, redevelopment programs, infill drilling, step-out drilling, and enhanced recovery projects.
- Assess primary, secondary, and enhanced oil recovery opportunities.
- Evaluate water injection, gas injection, pressure maintenance, miscible processes, and other recovery mechanisms where applicable.
- Optimize injection strategies to improve sweep efficiency, pressure support, and ultimate recovery.
- Analyze pressure-transient, well-test, production, and surveillance data.
- Recommend reservoir surveillance programs to reduce subsurface uncertainty and improve decision-making.
- Define requirements for pressure surveys, production logging, tracer studies, interference tests, and other reservoir monitoring activities.
- Monitor reservoir pressure, fluid contacts, water cut, gas-oil ratio, production decline, and recovery performance.
- Identify production underperformance and develop reservoir-based optimization strategies.
- Collaborate with Production Engineering, Well Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics, Drilling, and Facilities teams.
- Provide reservoir engineering input into well planning, completion design, artificial lift, stimulation, and workover decisions.
- Evaluate well and reservoir performance following drilling, completion, stimulation, or intervention activities.
- Conduct reserves and resources evaluations in accordance with applicable standards and company requirements.
- Support annual reserves reviews, field development updates, and long-term production planning.
- Develop uncertainty ranges and sensitivities for reserves, production forecasts, recovery factors, and development outcomes.
- Assess technical and commercial risks associated with reservoir development decisions.
- Develop economic evaluations for development options, drilling programs, injection projects, and recovery enhancements.
- Work with economics and finance teams to evaluate project value, capital requirements, operating costs, and expected returns.
- Support investment decisions through technically robust reservoir forecasts and development scenarios.
- Lead integrated subsurface studies for major development and redevelopment opportunities.
- Review reservoir management plans and ensure alignment between short-term production targets and long-term recovery objectives.
- Evaluate depletion performance and recommend changes to operating strategies where required.
- Identify opportunities to improve recovery factors, production rates, and reservoir sweep.
- Review well interference, communication, compartmentalization, and conformance issues.
- Develop reservoir management strategies for mature, complex, unconventional, offshore, or challenging reservoirs as applicable.
- Support uncertainty management through probabilistic modeling, scenario analysis, and sensitivity studies.
- Evaluate the application of machine learning, advanced analytics, digital twins, and automated history matching to reservoir management.
- Maintain reservoir engineering standards, workflows, models, technical documentation, and decision records.
- Review technical studies, reservoir simulation models, development plans, and engineering recommendations.
- Ensure technical work follows appropriate engineering practices, governance requirements, and quality standards.
- Manage reservoir engineering consultants, specialist studies, software providers, and technical service companies.
- Develop reservoir engineering budgets, resources, project plans, and technical priorities.
- Mentor and develop reservoir engineers and subsurface professionals.
- Promote knowledge sharing, technical assurance, peer review, and continuous improvement.
- Provide senior management with regular reports covering reservoir performance, reserves, production forecasts, development opportunities, risks, and recovery optimization.

Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate should have strong experience in
reservoir engineering, subsurface engineering, field development, reservoir simulation, production optimization, or petroleum engineering
, preferably within upstream oil and gas, energy companies, independent operators, or large-scale field development environments.
