The employer is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Proofreader to review and refine written content before publication.
The role works with writers, editors, content teams, and other stakeholders to ensure materials are accurate, clear, consistent, and professionally presented.
Key Responsibilities
- Proofread and edit documents, articles, website content, marketing materials, reports, and other written content.
- Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and typographical errors, and check clarity, consistency, accuracy, and style compliance.
- Verify names, dates, figures, facts, references, links, and other details when required.
- Maintain consistency in terminology, capitalization, formatting, and tone, and review revisions for completed corrections.
- Collaborate with writers, editors, designers, and content managers, meet deadlines, provide constructive feedback, and maintain confidentiality.
Requirements
- Excellent command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong reading comprehension, and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify subtle errors, follow style guides, work independently, and manage multiple assignments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Google Docs, common proofreading or editing tools, and formatting requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous proofreading, editing, writing, publishing, or content-related experience is preferred but not always required.
- A degree or relevant training in English, Journalism, Communications, Publishing, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience proofreading digital or print content and familiarity with recognized style guides or editing tools are preferred.
- Experience working remotely is preferred.
