Principal Accountabilities

  • Prepare clinical and progress notes and coordinate services.
  • Liaise with treating physicians, other personnel, clients, and family members about changes in client condition.
  • Counsel clients and families on nursing and related needs.
  • Participate in in-service programs and supervise or teach other nursing personnel.

Clinical Care Duties

  • Monitor and record vital signs and report abnormal values to treating physicians.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor intravenous infusions and parenteral therapies.
  • Provide care for clients with tracheostomies, gastrostomies, and colostomies.
  • Provide care for clients with pacemakers, peritoneal dialysis, and ventilators.
  • Care for clients with hemiplegia, paraplegia, Bell's palsy, cerebral palsy, terminal illness, and elderly care needs.
  • Care for newborns and pre- and post-partum mothers.
  • Care for physically challenged clients and clients needing special care at home or at an educational facility.
  • Provide simple exercises, assist with ambulation, and accompany clients to social gatherings, hospitals, treatment facilities, and outdoor activities.
  • Provide wound care to help prevent worsening pressure ulcers.
  • Record medical events, procedures, and other medical parameters.
  • Maintain records of patient care, condition, progress, and problems for discussion with a supervisor, case manager, or medical doctor.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing in the home country.
  • Two to five years of working experience as a registered nurse.

Certification and Licensure

  • Active Basic Life Support training.
  • Critical care qualification.
  • Pediatric qualification for pediatric registered nurse assignments.
  • ACLS certification for adult patients.
  • PALS certification for pediatric patients.
  • Teaching and assessing capability.
  • Current valid registration in the country of training or country of last employment.
  • Eligibility for DOH, DHA, or MOH licensing.

Job-Specific Knowledge and Skills

  • Homecare and clinical skills, bedside manner, infection control, nursing skills, and physiological knowledge.
  • Medication administration, medical teamwork, multitasking, listening, verbal communication, and health promotion and maintenance.
  • Ability to speak Arabic.
