Position Description:
We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer with 7+ years of strong expertise in frontend and backend test automation using Playwright to support the delivery of cloud-native applications hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for one of our leading Canadian Banking clients. The successful candidate will design, develop, and execute scalable automation frameworks, integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, and ensure high-quality software releases within an Agile environment. This role requires hands-on experience with Playwright, TypeScript/JavaScript, GCP, cross-browser testing, API testing, and modern automation framework design. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Scarborough, Ontario, following a hybrid work model with mandatory onsite presence three days per week at the client site.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
- Design and develop frontend and backend automation scripts using Playwright. • Build and maintain scalable, reusable automation frameworks. • Execute end-to-end, regression, and smoke test suites. • Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines using GCP Cloud Build or equivalent tools. • Perform cross-browser testing across Chromium, WebKit, and Firefox. • Validate UI workflows and responsive design behavior. • Collaborate with development and business teams throughout the software development lifecycle. • Track and manage defects using JIRA or Azure DevOps. • Support testing of cloud-native applications hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). • Prepare and provide reports on test execution, automation coverage, and quality metrics.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
- 7+ years of Quality Assurance experience. • Minimum 2 years of hands-on Playwright automation experience. • Experience testing cloud-based applications, with GCP preferred. • Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery environments. • Strong expertise in Playwright UI automation. • Proficiency in TypeScript and/or JavaScript. • Experience with parallel test execution and cross-browser testing. • Experience designing and maintaining automation frameworks using Playwright Test and Page Object Model (POM). • Experience working with Google Cloud Platform services, including Cloud Run, GKE, and App Engine. • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines. • Experience performing API testing using Postman or similar tools. Nice to Have • Experience testing React or Angular applications. • Experience working with microservices and containerized environments. • Banking or Financial Services industry experience. • Accessibility testing experience (WCAG). • Experience with reporting tools such as Allure or Playwright Reports. CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000–$115,000. This role is an existing vacancy. #LI-HG
