Project Engineer I

Role Overview

Scope of the Role

• Maintain broad high-level knowledge of deployed mining systems.
• Act as an escalation point for technical issues raised by project engineers and technical staff.
• Work with Project Managers to deploy mining systems efficiently, on time, and within budget.
• Ensure systems and products are deployed as efficiently as possible.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy complex mining solutions in a hands-on manner and support associated software.
• Deliver customizations, configure customer systems, and troubleshoot integrated system issues.
• Participate in onsite installations and communicate deployment risks and issues to stakeholders.
• Escalate critical issues and maintain product, support, documentation, and reporting knowledge.
• Report project issues and resolution methods and identify customer issues and opportunities.
• Support the sales team with technical presentations and pre-sales activities.
• Comply with workplace health and safety policies, audits, procedures, and customer requirements.

Skills and Experience

• Strong prioritisation, time management, communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand technical solutions and products quickly and meet team and individual deadlines.
• Experience maintaining Linux/Unix environments, supporting open-source software, and setting up relational databases.

Education Background

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer, Mining, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Three years of progressive experience in the offered role, software engineering, software consulting, mining engineering, or a related occupation.
• English proficiency is required; French and Portuguese fluency are considered assets.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, SQLite, SQL Server, Linux, Linux shell scripting, and Ubuntu.
• Experience working with remote teams is highly desirable.

Travel

• Local, national, and international travel is required to deliver services at client sites.
• A valid driver’s licence and passport or visa, where appropriate, are required.
