Hardware Technician I

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Define and review project proposals and plans with colleagues and customers.
• Execute projects by defining phases, elements, and schedules.
• Determine project specifications from product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
• Prepare cost estimates and administer service agreements.
• Load configurations, upgrades, and operating systems onto field and server computing equipment using change management procedures.
• Monitor project progress, coordinate activities, and resolve project problems.
• Maintain databases of deployed systems and specific configurations.
• Write computer programs, enter data, and back up data.
• Identify business risks, inefficiencies, issues, and opportunities related to business applications.
• Monitor new solutions and recommend options that could improve the project cycle.

Skills and Experience

• Experience applying technology in a harsh industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of mining systems deployed in the field.
• Knowledge of general network infrastructure and configuration.
• Ability to diagnose problems quickly using analytical skills.
• Customer service and communication skills suited to clients with varying technical competency.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Knowledge of documentation, safety management, and Microsoft Office tools.
• Ability to rapidly understand technical solutions, concepts, and products.

Educational Background

• N6 with trade test, national diploma, bachelor's degree, or equivalent foreign engineering degree in computer, mining, electrical, electronic, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• At least two years of mining industry experience or relevant hardware installation and maintenance experience.
• English fluency is required; French is an added advantage.
• Previous experience working with remote teams is highly desirable.

Work Environment

• Work may vary between office-based and customer mine-site locations.
• The role may involve working at heights and in heat, noise, dust, and other challenging environmental conditions.
• The technician must comply with customer mine-site health, safety, rules, and regulatory requirements.

Travel and Schedule

• The role may require weekend work and travel to different sites, including sites outside the country.
• The successful candidate must have a current passport, valid driver's license, and pass a background check.
