Hardware Technician I

Role Overview

Scope of the Role

• Deploy new and upgraded systems at customer mine sites.
• Troubleshoot and configure system software and computer operating systems.
• Develop procedures and system reports for customer requests and needs.
• Escalate technical issues and work toward resolution.
• Support efficient deployment of systems and products.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and review project proposals and plans with colleagues and customers.
• Execute project phases, elements, and schedules.
• Determine specifications from product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
• Prepare cost estimates and administer service agreements.
• Load configurations, upgrades, and operating systems onto field and server equipment.
• Monitor project progress, coordinate activities, and resolve problems.
• Maintain databases of deployed systems and specific configurations.
• Write computer programs and enter and back up data.
• Identify business risks, inefficiencies, issues, and opportunities related to applications.
• Monitor the market for new solutions and recommend improvements to project delivery.
• Comply with company QHSE, ethics, compliance, and customer safety requirements.

Customer and Team Relations

• Maintain effective working relationships with managers, technicians, engineers, and project teams.
• Maintain good relations with customer personnel and communicate issues clearly.
• Support technical staff and share knowledge with team members.
• Continuously seek improvements to system quality, installations, and support procedures.

Skills and Experience

• Experience applying technology in a harsh industrial environment.
• Strong analytical skills for diagnosing problems and strong customer service skills.
• Experience in a customer-oriented environment.
• Knowledge of general network infrastructure and configuration.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers of varying technical competency.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with documentation, safety management, and Microsoft Office tools.
• Ability to rapidly understand technical solutions, concepts, and products.

Educational Background

• N6 with trade test, national diploma, bachelor's degree, foreign equivalent in engineering, or a related field.
• At least two years of relevant progressive experience in mining or hardware installation and maintenance.
• Fluency in English is required; French is an added advantage.
• Experience working with remote teams is highly desirable.

Travel and Work Environment

• Work may occur in offices and at customer sites, including mine sites.
• The role may involve work at heights and exposure to heat, noise, dust, and other challenging conditions.
• Weekend work and travel to different sites, including sites outside the country, may be required.
• A current passport, valid driver's license, and successful background check are required.
