Position Overview

The Education in Emergencies Coordinator will lead implementation, coordination and monitoring of education activities for displaced and vulnerable children in Haiti's Artibonite department.

The position reports to the Project Manager and coordinates with education authorities, teachers, community workers, pedagogical advisers and other sectors.

Assignment Location

  • The position is assigned to Artibonite, with activities across Gros Morne, Saint-Michel-de-l'Attalaye and Saint-Marc and representation in Gonaïves and departmental coordination forums.
  • The role includes field supervision across multiple communes and work with local education stakeholders.

Planning and Implementation

  • Lead planning, implementation and reporting of results-focused programmes in line with donor, government and partner agreements.
  • Develop programme cycles, work plans, monitoring frameworks, monthly reports, budgets and terms of reference.
  • Coordinate education activities, teacher training, school needs assessments, procurement and implementation timelines.
  • Anticipate implementation risks, develop mitigation measures and maintain communication with stakeholders.

Quality and Standards

  • Apply Plan International guidance and minimum standards for child protection in humanitarian action.
  • Ensure education activities follow INEE minimum standards and Core Humanitarian Standards.
  • Integrate gender, conflict sensitivity, protection and other technical considerations into implementation.
  • Develop school safety plans and community risk and opportunity maps with relevant teams.

Coordination and Partnerships

  • Represent Plan International in education coordination mechanisms, government meetings and relevant working groups.
  • Strengthen partnerships with the Departmental Directorate of Education, implementing partners and emergency projects.
  • Organise stakeholder meetings, participatory structures, learning sessions and capacity-building activities.
  • Collaborate with education, child protection, health and women’s empowerment teams.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Supervise monitoring and evaluation tools and collect data for programme learning and proposal development.
  • Produce weekly, monthly and donor reports covering results, good practices, lessons learned and compliance.
  • Maintain continuity of education intervention during rapid assessment, response and follow-up phases.

Technical Expertise and Qualifications

  • A university degree in education sciences and five years of relevant experience are required.
  • Knowledge of the local context and familiarity with the Haitian education system are required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet tools is required.
  • Excellent oral and written French, organisational ability, teamwork, problem-solving and initiative are required.
  • The role requires the ability to work under pressure and outside regular working hours when necessary.
