Role Overview

Lead major airport terminal planning, design, redevelopment, and construction-support programs.

Serve as the senior leader and trusted advisor for airport owners, design partners, contractors, and executive stakeholders.

Oversee terminal redevelopment, expansions, passenger processing facilities, landside interfaces, support buildings, and associated infrastructure.

The role involves complex, multi-billion-dollar capital programs with multiple workstreams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead major airport terminal design and redevelopment programs.
  • Act as the primary executive interface with airport owners and key stakeholders.
  • Direct multidisciplinary teams of architects, engineers, planners, and specialty consultants.
  • Develop strategies for cost, schedule, quality, and risk objectives.
  • Oversee planning, design, procurement, and construction-support phases.
  • Manage governance, reporting, and executive communications.
  • Guide technical decisions across operational, commercial, and passenger priorities.
  • Coordinate design-build, CMAR, joint venture, and alternative delivery partners.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Mentor project managers and technical leaders.
  • Support business development and client relationship initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Planning, or a related discipline.
  • At least 15 years of progressive aviation infrastructure experience.
  • Large airport terminal design program leadership in the United States or internationally.
  • Experience managing complex multidisciplinary consultant teams and concurrent workstreams.
  • Strong executive presence, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Direct experience with airport authorities, owners, executive leadership, and program stakeholders.
  • Understanding of airport planning, terminal design, passenger experience, and operational requirements.
  • Experience with Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, CMAR, or P3 delivery methods.
  • Ability to lead high-performing teams collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE, RA, or AICP certification.
  • Experience with major international hub airports or terminal programs valued in the hundreds of millions or billions of dollars.
  • Existing relationships with major North American airport owners and aviation stakeholders.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed project teams.

Compensation

  • The stated base compensation range is $200,000–$290,000 annually for the position and local market.
