Role Overview

Burns & McDonnell India is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer for its global Oil, Gas & Chemical practice.

The role offers a career path toward project execution leadership or knowledge leadership in the CSA department.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform project execution activities with focus on quality, budget, and schedule KPIs.
  • Prepare execution plans, RACI matrices, QC review matrices, and work-hour estimates.
  • Manage schedules, progress, changes, risks, resources, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare calculations, 3D models, drawings, pipe racks, technological structures, and equipment foundations.
  • Review design inputs, geotechnical reports, fabrication drawings, and vendor documents.
  • Resolve site queries and RFIs and support construction progress.
  • Execute brownfield tie-in design, field verification, laser scan integration, and as-built alignment.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary, 3D model, and constructability reviews.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced personnel.
  • Support standards, automation, innovation, value management, knowledge sharing, and technical publications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Master's degree in Structural Engineering with 10–15 years of OGC project engineering experience.
  • Extensive CSA work process, standard deliverable, and engineering practice expertise.
  • Knowledge of ACI, ASCE, AISC, and PIP codes and regulations.
  • Advanced technical writing and engineering documentation skills.
  • Expertise in structural steel and concrete design and CSA construction practices.
  • Ability to interpret laser scans and conduct field surveys for engineering inputs.
  • Advanced proficiency in RISA, STAAD, and RAM; other industry software is advantageous.
  • Ability to lead a working group of approximately fifteen people.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, delegation, and strategic decision-making skills.
