Overview

Perform third-party inspection of pressure vessels during shutdown or turnaround activities at Ras Laffan Industrial City.

Ensure compliance with

Api 510

, ASME Section VIII Division 1 & 2, and client specifications.

Witness and review all inspection activities, evaluate fitness-for-service (FFS), and issue comprehensive inspection reports to safeguard asset integrity and regulatory compliance.

Inspection Execution

  • Perform internal and external visual inspection of pressure vessels to identify corrosion, erosion, cracks, blistering, mechanical damage, and high-temperature hydrogen attack (HTHA).
  • Execute thickness measurements (UT scanning) to determine remaining life and corrosion rates.
  • Identify and document locations requiring further NDT or remedial action.

Ndt Witnessing & Review

  • Witness and verify all Non-Destructive Testing activities including:
  • **UT**
  • (Ultrasonic Testing) – thickness, shear wave, phased array
  • **RT**
  • (Radiographic Testing) – film interpretation and digital
  • **MT**
  • (Magnetic Particle Testing) – surface and sub-surface defects
  • **PT**
  • (Dye Penetrant Testing) – surface-breaking flaws
  • Review NDT reports and ensure techniques, procedures, and personnel certifications meet applicable codes and client specifications.
  • Challenge unacceptable NDT results and request re-testing or alternative methods as necessary.

Repair & Welding Oversight

  • Review and approve repair procedures, weld maps, and PWHT (Post Weld Heat Treatment) plans.
  • Inspect weld preparation, fit-up, and final weld quality.
  • Ensure all welding activities comply with ASME Section IX and client approved WPS/PQR.

Fitness-For-Service (Ffs) Assessments

  • Conduct FFS assessments per API 579-1/ASME FFS-1.
  • Evaluate remaining life, maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP), and retirement thickness.
  • Provide recommendations for continued operation, repair, replacement, or derating.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and submit detailed daily inspection reports, final turnover packages, and punch lists.
  • Document all defects, anomalies, and non-conformances with photographs, sketches, and measurements.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection findings and recommendations for client handover.

Minimum Requirements

  • **Valid API 510**
  • (Pressure Vessel Inspector) certification – mandatory and active.

Experience

  • Minimum
  • 5 years
  • of hands-on pressure vessel inspection experience in the
  • oil & gas industry
  • .
  • At least
  • 2 shutdown/turnaround campaigns
  • as a vessel inspector.
  • Experience with
  • hydrocarbon service vessels
  • (separators, scrubbers, towers, reactors, heat exchangers on the shell side).

3.3 Technical Knowledge

  • **ASME Section VIII Division 1 & 2**
  • – design, fabrication, and inspection requirements.
  • **API 571**
  • – damage mechanisms affecting pressure vessels (HIC, SOHIC, HTHA, creep, fatigue, etc.).
  • **API 579**
  • – fitness-for-service assessment methodology.
