Job Description
- Provides age appropriate patient care according to the Nursing Scope of Practice as defined by the regulatory body.
- The Practical Nurse is not licensed for independent practice and remains responsible and accountable for his/her own actions.
Responsibilities
- Clinical Practice: Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
- Under supervision of Registered Nurse, assess and implement nursing care for patients.
- Assist in activities of daily living for patients in accordance with care plan.
- Demonstrates service excellence and acts as patient advocate.
- Understands basic indications for medications, recognizes side effects and reports to Registered Nurse.
- Reports any significant changes in patient's condition to Registered Nurse immediately.
- Responds to all levels of emergencies according to policies.
- Responsible for timely and accurate verbal and written communication and documentation.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team.
- Communicate effectively with patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
- Contributes to support of new staff and nursing students.
- Adhere to protocols on safe use of information technology.
Qualifications
- NLT 1 year clinical experience after graduation in appropriate setting
