Job Description Summary
The Practical Nurse 4 provides a variety of direct and indirect nursing care functions to patients under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Accepts delegation from the registered nurse in meeting the learning/information needs of the patient/family.
Functions using the Nursing Process with emphasis on direct patient care and related activities and referring to the Lippincott Competencies.

Operational Roles & Responsibilities
- ASSESSMENT
- Measure and record vital signs temperature pulse respiration blood pressure height and weight using both manual and electronic devices and monitors patients for changes in condition medication reactions and treatment responses reporting findings to the professional nurse
- Monitor and record fluid intake and outputPLANNING
- Assist the registered nurse in collaborating with the patientfamily and healthcare team to develop and update a plan of care that aligns with the medical diagnosis and address the patients evolving physical psychosocial and agerelated needs while organizing daily patient care activities and prioritizing basic care for assigned patientsIMPLEMENTATIONINTERVENTIONS
- Provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients respecting privacy dignity culture and personal preferences assist with hygiene needs create a safe environment and support physical exams diagnostic procedures and patient admissions transfers and discharges
- Assist with unitspecific treatments specimen collection patient education documentation and emergency care accept delegation communicate patient care information and act as a translator when needed
- Upon completion of medication administration competency may administer medications via subcutaneous intramuscular oral and topical routes including nasal inhaled ear eye and nose drops Must be knowledgeable of therapeutic effects dosages contraindications side effects and adverse reactions for all medications administered excludinghighalert and IV medicationsEVALUATION
- Monitor the patients progress report any changes to the registered nurse and assess the quality of nursing care provided identifying areas for improvement
- Assist the registered nurse in assessing the patientfamilys understanding of and response to the plan of care including teaching and discharge plansPROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS
- Adhere to JHAHs standards policies and procedures maintain a current nursing license and take responsibility for professional development Demonstrate professionalism through respectful communication a positive image and confidentiality in patient interactions
- Provide compassionate patientcentered care by responding to patient needs maintain infection control and safety ensure comfort and dignity during procedures and transport and take timely action to address concerns including reporting abnormal findings to the registered nurse
- Organize work independently around patient needs contribute to a clean and safe environment participate in drills and emergency preparedness and collaborate effectively with colleagues while always maintaining a high standard of care and professionalism
Minimum Education Required
Completion of 12th grade high school and a 2 years health institute Nurse Diploma Program which has been recognized by the Saudi Commission and current licensure as a Nurse Technician.
Professional Certifications Required
Current licensure as a Nurse Technician.
Years of Experience
Minimum 6 years of related experience in a healthcare setting.
