Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced PMC Telecom Specialist for our client ADNOC Offshore project in Abu Dhabi as part of our telecom engineering within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business.
Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be based at our client office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The Role
- Provide technical expertise across all Telecommunication systems design, including data, voice, fiber optics, networking, security, and communication infrastructure.
- Ensure telecom design and engineering compliance with applicable international standards, ADNOC standards, and project specifications.
- Coordinate, monitor, and manage Telecommunication engineering activities with the EPC Contractor to meet project requirements and ensure timely delivery.
- Collaborate closely with other discipline engineers within IPMT, EPC Contractors, and ADNOC Engineering, Operations, and Site teams to resolve technical issues and ensure quality execution and system integrity.
- Perform regular and timely technical reviews of Telecommunication engineering deliverables prepared by engineering consultants and contractors, ensuring design accuracy, quality, and compliance with approved standards, codes, and best practices.

Responsibilities
- Ensure effective integration and coordination of Telecommunication engineering activities across the IPMT team and with other disciplines.
- Ensure the quality, accuracy, and consistency of Telecommunication engineering work performed by Engineering Consultants and EPC Contractors.
- Review, verify, and approve Telecom engineering deliverables, ensuring full compliance with ADNOC project specifications, applicable international standards, codes, and industry best practices.
- Coordinate and contribute technical input to the development, evaluation, and optimization of design options and technical solutions, supporting project and business objectives.
- Participate in Telecommunication systems selection, sizing, and configuration, ensuring optimization, standardization, and alignment with corporate guidelines.
- Ensure Telecom systems and facilities are designed in accordance with corporate HSE, cybersecurity, and environmental requirements.
- Ensure maximum utilization and integration of existing Telecommunication infrastructure, while optimizing additions required for new projects.
- Participate in layout reviews, 3D model reviews, design reviews, constructability reviews, and technical workshops related to Telecom systems.
- Provide ongoing technical support and coordination with other discipline engineers to resolve interface and design issues.
- Coordinate and participate in technical bid evaluations, vendor assessment, and contractor performance reviews for Telecom-related scopes.
- Provide technical support during installation, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and handover of Telecommunication systems.
- Report to the ADNOC Discipline Team Leader and Engineering Manager, while supporting Project Managers and Engineers within the Project Management Team.
- Interface with Company Technical Departments, Business Units, Operations, Logistics, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth execution.
- Maintain regular coordination with Contractor Engineering and Project Management teams and Telecom discipline engineers as required throughout the project lifecycle.

Expected
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in Telecommunication engineering within the oil and gas industry or large industrial projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven technical leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills to support complex project environments.
- Extensive knowledge and hands‑on experience with international Telecommunication codes, standards, and industry best practices (including ADNOC standards).
- Proficient in the use of Telecommunication engineering tools, systems design software, and general business applications.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, plan and coordinate activities, and develop effective solutions for complex technical and project challenges.
