Job Description

  • Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Site HSE Manager for our client Taziz Methanol Project in Abu Dhabi as part of our HSE team within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business.
  • Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be onshore site based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Responsibilities

  • Manage HSE on the Project scope in accordance with all applicable ADNOC HSE policies & procedures, corporate safety codes of practice, UAE statutes and international standards.
  • Advise Senior Project Management regarding HSE matters and liaise with project partner companies and EPC contractors.
  • Oversee all aspects of the project HSE Program efficiently calling upon shareholder expertise and project HSE staff resources.
  • Drive Project HSE excellence through Project Management visibility and involvement.
  • Engage Project Leadership Team in the development, review and endorsement of all applicable HSE systems, programs and procedures.
  • Guide, direct, train and motivate project team members to take responsibility for their personal safety.
  • Establish system and schedule for conduct of regular project Safety Steering Team (SST) meetings.
  • Implement HSE best practices as applicable from CLIENT, project shareholder companies and the Oil & Gas Industry.
  • Develop and implement project specific Risk Assessment Management System (RAMS).
  • Ensure project HSE requirements are included in Invitation to Tender (ITT) packages.
  • Establish HSE Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and renew annually.
  • Ensure system implementation for prompt incident notification, reporting, investigation and tracking of corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Master’s degree in management or equivalent.
  • Minimum Twenty 20+ years’ experience within the oil & gas sector, including minimum of 10 years of HSE related experience and minimum of 7 years supervisory / managerial experience.
  • In possession of current internationally recognized Professional Certification (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good leadership skills.
  • Good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant international codes and standards.
  • Ability to make independent judgments and decisions in the resolution of Quality issues.
  • Experience with contractors and suppliers and ability to manage related interfaces.
