Piping Designer

Role Overview

Responsibilities

• Develop plant 3D layouts for equipment and process or utility piping systems.
• Coordinate design activities with piping, engineering, and other design disciplines.
• Prepare plant design documents, plans, and piping isometrics.
• Control and monitor isometric production.
• Prepare and interpret PFDs and P&IDs.
• Participate in technical meetings and review project documents.
• Comment on vendor drawings and revise design documents.
• Perform field surveys and update documents to as-built status when required.

Requirements

• Diploma, associate degree, or equivalent in engineering design or drafting.
• At least 3 years of mechanical or piping design experience.
• Extensive experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD, and OpenPlant for 2D and 3D CAD.
• Knowledge of ASME piping codes, industry and regulatory standards, and drafting conventions.
• Excellent safety awareness and strong deliverable focus.
• Ability to plan work, motivate individuals, and meet quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
• Strong understanding of inter-discipline dependencies and well-developed communication skills.

Technical Skills

• The position involves facility layout, equipment modeling, piping system design, intelligent 3D modeling, and data-centric multidisciplinary delivery.
• Required design outputs include plant layouts, PFDs, P&IDs, piping plans, and isometrics.

Work Arrangement

• The role is based in the Hatch Pittsburgh office.
