Role overview
Intel Central Engineering Group is seeking Physical Design Engineers for custom IP and SoC designs used in Intel products and custom ASIC customer programs.
The role translates RTL to GDS and produces manufacturing-ready design databases.
Physical design work
- Implement custom IP and SoC physical designs from RTL to GDS.
- Execute synthesis, place and route, clock tree synthesis, floor planning, static timing analysis, and power or clock distribution.
- Perform reliability, power, noise, formal equivalence, layout, electrical rule, and structural design verification.
- Analyze violations and recommend fixes for current and future product architectures.
- Optimize designs for power, frequency, and area.
- Improve physical design methodologies and flow automation.
Technical expertise
- Expertise includes physical clock design, timing closure, coverage analysis, placing, routing, synthesis, and DFT.
- The role requires RTL-to-GDS workflows, PPA optimization, industry-standard EDA tools, clock tree synthesis, low-power design, and multi-power-domain analysis.
