Assist with payroll & union related audits (including preparing supporting documentation & compiling responses)
Perform basic accounting duties & monthly general ledger reconciliations for payroll-related accounts; maintain appropriate & complete work papers to support overall financial closing process
Serve as primary full-cycle payroll backup as needed
Assist with preparation of responses to payroll-related correspondence from regulatory agencies requiring detailed and timely responses (union, IRS, DOL, etc.)
Assist with other recurring & scheduled regulatory payments, including garnishments, child support, and 401k
Perform recurring & periodic internal audits to ensure accurate & complete employee setup, status, and add-on/burden management
Process employee reimbursements timely & accurately to support overall payroll cycle
Develop & maintain working relationship with HR department to assist & support with cross-functional tasks, as needed
Assist with weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual regulatory payroll compliance filings, including, but not limited to state & local, school district, 941s, and W2s
Develop & maintain working relationship with Compliance department to assist & support with cross-functional tasks, as needed
Assist with researching & maintaining current knowledge on market trends related to travel incentives, such as GSA per diem, vehicle allowances, etc.
Perform new hire setup procedures, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of data capture to support adjacent company functions
Assist with new business & tax-related account setups to comply with state & local regulatory requirements outside of Ohio
Provide support to on-site project teams for time entry in Procore, as needed
Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
2+ years of payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, or related administrative experience.
Experience working with payroll software, HRIS systems, and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Strong understanding of payroll processes, confidentiality requirements, and data accuracy standards.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
Experience processing payroll for large employee populations.
Knowledge of union payroll administration and reporting requirements.

Compensation for the Payroll Specialist role ranges from $27.41 to $33.66 per hour depending on experience
