Job Purpose
The Painting Inspector monitors and inspects surface preparation, coating application, and painting activities.
The role ensures painting and protective coating work complies with project specifications, international standards, client requirements, HSE procedures, ITPs, method statements, and quality requirements.
Painting Inspection and Quality Control
- Inspect and monitor painting and protective coating activities at site.
- Verify surface preparation, surface cleanliness, surface profile, and environmental conditions.
- Check blasting and painting equipment for suitability and calibration.
- Verify coating materials, batch numbers, shelf life, storage, and mixing procedures.
- Monitor paint mixing, thinning, application methods, and coating intervals.
- Inspect coating layers for application quality and workmanship.
- Verify wet film thickness and dry film thickness.
- Conduct or coordinate adhesion, holiday detection, porosity, and other coating tests.
- Identify coating defects such as runs, sags, pinholes, blistering, dry spray, poor adhesion, and insufficient thickness.
- Ensure corrective actions are completed before work is accepted.
