Order Taker - In Room Dining

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Answer in-room dining telephone calls promptly, professionally, and courteously.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately and enter them into the POS system.
• Maintain knowledge of menus, ingredients, preparation methods, promotions, and operating hours.
• Provide menu recommendations and assist guests with selections when required.
• Communicate dietary requirements, food allergies, and special requests accurately to kitchen and service teams.
• Promote menu items, apply upselling techniques, and confirm order details and charges with guests.
• Coordinate order preparation and delivery, monitor pending orders, and follow up to avoid delays.
• Handle guest inquiries and feedback, escalating concerns to a supervisor or manager when necessary.
• Process guest bills and charges, maintain operational records, and complete shift handovers.
• Maintain an organized work area and follow food safety, hygiene, health and safety, and hotel procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in food and beverage, in-room dining, room service, guest services, or a similar hospitality role is preferred.
• Excellent telephone etiquette, communication skills, and guest-service orientation are required.
• Good knowledge of food and beverage products and service standards is required.
• Good command of spoken and written English is required; additional languages are an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to process orders accurately are required.
• Good organizational and multitasking skills are required.
