About the Role
The Optical Technician handles lens cutting, glazing, fitting, repairs, order processing, stock control, and quality checks for accurate and timely optical orders.
Optical Services
- Cut, glaze, and fit ophthalmic lenses according to prescriptions and frame specifications.
- Perform frame adjustments and basic repairs.
- Check lenses and frames for quality and manufacturing defects.
- Assist the sales team in selecting suitable lenses for frames.
- Process and deliver optical lens orders in the system.
Stock and Orders
- Order and maintain RX optical lens stock.
- Conduct regular stock checks and replenish stock as required.
- Follow up on daily and pending orders and provide timely updates.
Quality and Equipment
- Conduct quality checks before completed orders are handed over.
- Follow equipment maintenance and safety guidelines.
- Clean and switch off equipment at the end of the day.
- Maintain workshop cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Report damaged lenses, incidents, and technical issues promptly.
Requirements
- A relevant qualification or certification in Optical Technology is preferred.
- At least 2 years of previous experience in the UAE is required.
- Knowledge of lens cutting, glazing, fitting, and frame adjustments is required.
- Strong attention to detail and quality is required.
- Good organizational and teamwork skills are required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment is required.
- Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and varied shifts when required is expected.
