Responsibilities
- Lead the development, integration, submission, acceptance and ongoing assurance of the Company Operations Safety Case
- Act as principal interface between Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Asset Management and HSEQ
- Own and maintain the Company Operations & Maintenance Hazard Log
- Ensure effective identification, assessment, control, transfer and closure of operational and maintenance hazards
- Establish and coordinate safety assurance activities in accordance with railway safety and risk management principles
- Manage interfaces with Independent Safety Assessor, Engineering Independent Safety Assessor, National Safety Authorities, Safety Assurance Review Boards and Change Control Review Boards
- Ensure safety arguments, assurance evidence, hazard controls, safety requirements and certification submissions are complete and traceable
- Lead safety assurance and certification activities within the Operational Readiness Plan prior to commercial operations
- Maintain the Operations Safety Case and assurance framework through operational change, asset modification, incident learning and continual improvement after Entry into Service
Requirements
- Experience in leading safety assurance and certification activities in railway or similar high hazard industry
- Knowledge of EN 50126 RAMS lifecycle, EN 50128, EN 50129, and CSM RA or equivalent risk management frameworks
- Experience managing interfaces with Independent Safety Assessors and National Safety Authorities
- Ability to lead safety case development and certification submissions

Role Overview
- The Operations Safety Assurance & Certification Lead is responsible for leading the development, integration, submission, acceptance and ongoing assurance of the Company Operations Safety Case, acting as the principal interface between Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Asset Management and HSEQ.
- The role is the Owner and Custodian of the Company Operations & Maintenance Hazard Log and is responsible for ensuring the effective identification, assessment, control, transfer and closure of operational and maintenance hazards throughout the railway lifecycle.
- The position will establish and coordinate safety assurance activities in accordance with recognized railway safety and risk management principles, including EN 50126 RAMS lifecycle requirements, EN 50128 and EN 50129 where applicable, and the Common Safety Method for Risk Evaluation and Assessment
- The position manages interfaces with the Independent Safety Assessor (ISA), Engineering Independent Safety Assessor where applicable, National Safety Authorities, Safety Assurance Review Boards and Change Control Review Boards.
