Responsibilities
- Primary point of contact for all day to day matters related to rolling stock maintenance and activities within the General Maintenance Building
- Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standards
- Management of the rolling stock maintenance team, inclusive of rostering, leave, sickness cover
- Plan and coordinate all maintenance execution works, liaising with maintenance planners and operational control centre
- Manage and deploy maintenance resource to meet maintenance plan and casualty repairs
- Ensure records and work order management is correct and up to date using SAP
- Report on and ensure all departmental KPIs are met
- Ensure relevant rules, policies, processes and procedures are up to date and adhered to
- Ensure adequate risk management and control measures are in place
- Manage, review and investigate any non conformances
- Motivate, mentor and develop workforce
- Engage in Continuous Improvement culture and share best practice
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification in relevant engineering specialism, or significant maintenance and operational experience in a senior engineering role
- Apprentice trained and/or relevant engineering qualifications
- Full driving license
- Extensive experience and background in railway maintenance and operation
- Extensive management and/or supervisory experience of running a maintenance facility
- Knowledge of managing contracted service providers
- Experience in managing multifunctional and diverse teams
- Experience in quality management and asset management systems
- Proven ability to work under pressure

Position Overview
- The maintenance facility is responsible for all rolling stock assets; the duty Maintenance Manager manages day to day facility operations and ensures maintenance is carried out per plan and to highest standard.
- He/she shall have oversight of all activities, ensuring safety rules and processes are adhered to.
- Works on shift basis leading one of the maintenance teams, liaising with depot controllers, operational control, maintenance planners and asset reliability team.
- Responsible for ensuring team delivers required throughput against plan and service commitments.
- Gathers evidence to support claims for warranty and contractual non compliances.
- Takes lead role in developing and improving quality management system and processes.

Academic Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in relevant engineering specialism, or significant maintenance and operational experience in a senior engineering role

- Apprentice trained and/or relevant engineering qualifications
