Purpose of the Position
The Offshore Environmental Supervisor supports offshore construction projects in Saudi Arabia.
The role covers environmental compliance, EIA and ESIA commitments, monitoring, pollution prevention, and performance reporting for projects, vessels, subcontractors, and marine construction activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support EIA and ESIA preparation, review, and implementation for offshore projects.
- Ensure compliance with permits, regulatory approvals, and EIA commitments during construction and marine operations.
- Assess environmental aspects, impacts, and risks for vessel operations, pipelay, subsea works, dredging, and marine logistics.
- Coordinate monitoring of seawater quality, sediment, waste, emissions, discharges, and pollution control.
- Protect sensitive marine environments and develop mitigation measures for offshore activities.
- Develop oil spill prevention and response plans and coordinate environmental emergency drills.
- Conduct environmental inspections, audits, and vessel assessments.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor environmental performance.
- Investigate environmental incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with MARPOL and applicable marine environmental regulations.
- Prepare environmental reports, KPI dashboards, statistical analyses, and lessons learned reports.
- Support GHG management, energy efficiency initiatives, and sustainability programs.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in an environmental-related field, including Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Environmental Geology.
- At least 5 years of relevant environmental management experience.
- Offshore oil and gas construction or vessel-based operations experience is preferred.
- Saudi Aramco or similar major client experience is advantageous.
Technical Knowledge and Languages
- Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems, including ISO 14001, EIA and ESIA, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
- Knowledge of marine monitoring, waste, chemical, water, discharge, and emissions management.
- Knowledge of oil spill response, audits, inspections, incident investigation, GHG reporting, sustainability, and MARPOL.
- Fluent English and Arabic are required.
Travel and Location
- Frequent offshore travel and vessel or site visits are expected within Saudi Arabia and associated offshore project locations.
- The exact work location will be confirmed by HR and project management according to project requirements.
