Role overview
The Surface Modeling Specialist develops complex 3D surface models, digital designs, and engineering geometry for products and components.
The role works with product design, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to create accurate, refined, and manufacturable surface models.
The position is listed as full-time and mid-level to senior.
Key responsibilities
- Develop 3D surface models for products, components, assemblies, and engineering applications.
- Create Class-A and freeform surfaces and translate sketches, concepts, requirements, scan data, and references into digital models.
- Perform surface, curvature, continuity, and geometric analysis and maintain CAD models, drawings, assemblies, and documentation.
- Support reverse engineering, tooling, prototyping, manufacturing, simulation, production, design validation, and product improvement.
- Apply GD&T, tolerances, dimensional requirements, DFM, DFA, and manufacturability standards.
- Collaborate across design, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams and provide technical recommendations.
- Maintain revisions and model libraries, improve workflows and CAD standards, and stay current with surface-modeling technologies.
