Position Description:
CGI is seeking a Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer Specialist to support enterprise data modernization initiatives across public sector and commercial clients. In this role, you will design and implement modern data engineering platforms using Microsoft Fabric, supporting organizations transitioning from traditional Microsoft data platforms to scalable cloud-based analytics architectures. The successful candidate will have strong hands-on data engineering experience, consulting delivery experience, and the ability to work directly with client stakeholders to deliver production-grade data platforms. This role is ideal for a senior data engineer with experience modernizing legacy Microsoft data environments such as SQL Server and SSIS into modern Lakehouse architectures.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
- Data Engineering & Platform Development • Design and implement enterprise data platforms using Microsoft Fabric • Develop Lakehouse architectures using One Lake, Delta tables, and Spark • Build scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Fabric Data Factory • Implement data transformations using PySpark and SQL • Design medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) for enterprise analytics environments • Optimize pipelines for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency Data Platform Modernization • Support migration of legacy data environments to Microsoft Fabric • Modernize ETL pipelines currently built on SQL Server and SSIS • Integrate data from enterprise systems, APIs, and relational databases • Support hybrid architecture integrating on-premise and cloud data environments. Client Engagement & Delivery • Work directly with client stakeholders, architects, and project teams • Translate business and technical requirements into scalable data solutions • Participate in architecture discussions and design workshops • Contribute to technical documentation and implementation planning Delivery & SDLC Participate in full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including: • Requirements • Architecture and design • Development • Testing • Deployment • Production support • Support CI/CD practices and deployment pipelines • Follow data engineering and data governance best practices
