Job Summary

  • The Medical Imaging Secretary is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the radiology department.
  • The role involves managing appointments, patient registration, report coordination, medical records, and communication between patients, radiologists, referring physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient departmental operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate patient appointments for radiology examinations.
  • Register patients and verify demographic, insurance, and referral information.
  • Prepare and maintain patient records, reports, and imaging documentation.
  • Answer telephone calls, emails, and patient inquiries professionally.
  • Coordinate with radiologists, radiographers, and referring physicians regarding appointments and reports.
  • Manage Radiology Information System (RIS), PACS, and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) as required.
  • Ensure imaging reports are accurately distributed to referring physicians and patients.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with healthcare regulations.
  • Assist with billing related documentation and insurance requirements.
  • Track pending reports and follow up on urgent cases when necessary.
  • Maintain filing systems and departmental records.
  • Support the smooth daily operation of the radiology department.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a medical secretary, receptionist, or healthcare administrator is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and radiology procedures is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with RIS, PACS, and EMR systems is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general computer skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism.
