Materials Engineer

Reviews of project technical specifications, test codes and standards, drawings, and BOQ to identify and determine quality and engineering criteria, workmanship and testing requirements.

Assesses that proposed project materials are in line with the specific project requirements, including:

- Proposal of alternative suitable materials and appropriate tests

- Selection of the most appropriate combination of materials for specific purposes taking into consideration the cost implication.

Advises on inspection and test requirements of materials during usage.

Provides technical support and guidance to site staff in matters related to civil construction materials, their selection, application and testing requirements.

Advises the Project Team on problems regarding materials either during production process or within the construction process as a result of monitoring control of materials.

Developing pressure test strategy in discussion with various engineering disciplines.

Tests and measures finished products, component or assemblies for functioning, operation, accuracy or assembly to verify adherence to functional specifications.

Inspection of material delivered to site and manufacturing factories for permanent construction

Manages stocks according to Manufacturer’s recommendations.

Monitors the implementation of Method Statements, and, Inspection & Test Plans related to materials, and ensures all necessary quality records are generated in a timely manner for all materials.

Raises punch lists for incomplete or defective work related to civil materials

Assists construction personnel to identify problems and potential or actual non-conformances related to materials.

Witnesses with Client all critical verification points on site and provides coordination for all quality issues for conformance to requirements related to materials.

Organize the bill of quantity.

Close coordination with Stores regarding the materials deliveries and distribution to the concerned users.
