Role Overview
The Materials Engineer supports material engineering, inspection, testing, quality control, and technical coordination for civil construction and EPC projects.
Materials and Engineering Duties
- Review project technical specifications, test codes, standards, drawings, and bills of quantity to identify quality and engineering requirements.
- Assess proposed materials, propose suitable alternatives and tests, and select material combinations while considering cost implications.
- Advise on material inspections, testing requirements, production issues, and construction-process problems.
- Develop pressure test strategies with relevant engineering disciplines and test finished products, components, or assemblies.
- Inspect materials delivered to construction sites and manufacturing facilities and manage stocks according to manufacturer recommendations.
Quality and Site Coordination
- Provide technical support to site staff on civil construction materials, selection, application, and testing requirements.
