Material Coordinator Inspector examines and inspects materials and finished parts and products for defects and wear and to ensure conformance with purchase orders, drawings and specifications. The Material Coordinator Inspector will follow established policies and procedures in the performance of duties with opportunity to use discretion; uses discretion in making decisions regarding planning and organization of project; possesses the ability to work with Third-Party Contractor to resolve issues that affect project; and interfaces with onsite and offsite company personnel involved with project. The Material Inspector may be expected to perform the following tasks:
- Prioritize material delivery schedules and verify that critical materials have adequate delivery dates to meet project needs.
- Track materials through the use of bills of material, purchase orders, drawings, certification records, material test reports (“MTR”), etc.
- Verify the accuracy of materials ordered against the material take-off on construction drawings and ensure all materials have been ordered correctly.
- Identify and monitor problems in the material delivery program and recommend any corrective action to the project managers/construction managers.
- Maintain proper paperwork so that materials can be tracked throughout entire process.
- Maintain contact with outside vendors to discuss matters relating to the procurement of any missing materials.
- Ensure that all procured materials meet U.S.
Department
of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA), and client requirements.
- Maintain a record keeping system for all materials.
- Help facilitate material specifications, quantities, and information required in the preparation of project completion reports, field books, and as-built drawings.
- Develop the list of unused materials.
Other duties and responsibilities may be required throughout job assignment.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle changing priorities.
- Must be able to wear and work in personal protective equipment
- Tolerance to work in various environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, noise, dust, rain, snow ).
- Ability to safely operate inspection tools, laptops, and mobile devices.
- This position requires the use of a personal vehicle for work-related travel. A valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and a reliable vehicle are required.
