Job Description

  • The WMCC VTS Manager is responsible for managing and co ordinating the activates of the WMCC VTS centre.
  • This includes managing WMCC VTS operations to ensure rules, regulations and legislation are followed.
  • The manager will develop, maintain and review management standards and ensure all operators are trained and qualified.

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop the safety culture.
  • Ensure an effective public relations and information service.
  • Manage financial, technical and Human Resources issues such as maintenance of shift rotas.
  • Manage the maintenance of WMCC VTS software systems, equipment and hardware.
  • Manage and review Standard of procedures manuals, Safety Maps, Risk Assessment and equipment.

People Management Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of WMCC Vessel Traffic Service Operators (VTSOs / Supervisor) on a continual shift roster.
  • Ensure availability of qualified WMCC VTS operators always.
  • Conduct appraisals and undertake annual assessments.
  • Actively lead the WMCC VTS team ensuring consistent high quality service.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Assess risks of vessel movements and establish cost effective processes and procedures.
  • Establish methods, procedures and technological solutions to gather information for vessel movement management.
  • Manage operations and traffic in the Abu Dhabi waterways.
  • Cover WMCC VTS in operations preparation meetings for abnormal operations.
  • Lead automation of VTS processes.
  • Prepare monthly VTS employees rosters.
  • Lead VTS system upgrades including SOW, technical evaluation, and implementation.
  • Review monthly report and send to Director, Waterways, AD Maritime.
  • Lead department internal/external audits.

Qualifications

  • Relevant management qualification.
  • Experience in leading and managing complex operational teams.
  • Proven high level communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Completion of C0103 1 and C0103 2 qualifications.
