About the Team and Role

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead and grow a blended full-time and contractor engineering team through 1:1s, growth plans, performance management, and feedback.
• Own product-area delivery outcomes and partner with Product to shape work and drive predictable execution.
• Shape the technical roadmap across product capabilities, infrastructure modernization, and platform reliability.
• Keep system reliability, data integrity, and third-party dependency handling as baseline operating expectations.
• Own hiring, interview calibration, and talent closing for the team.
• Contribute to ADRs, design reviews, and high-stakes code reviews.
• Drive testing, CI/CD, DORA and flow metrics, incident response, and responsible AI-assisted development.
• Communicate roadmaps, status, risks, tradeoffs, and decisions clearly.

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years managing software engineering teams and shipping quality production software.
• Experience managing mixed full-time and contractor teams.
• Strong .NET, C#, and modern ASP.NET service development background.
• Comfort with legacy VB and modern C# in an established codebase.
• Angular familiarity for reviewing front-end work and full-stack tradeoffs.
• Experience with observability, including logging, monitoring, and alerting.
• Evidence-based management familiarity with DORA, SPACE, or equivalent frameworks.
• AWS production experience with containers, serverless services, and managed databases.
• Experience leading infrastructure modernization without disrupting delivery.
• Hands-on use of Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI-assisted coding tools.
• Coaching-first leadership, direct communication, Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD fluency.

Education and Standout Experience

• A bachelor’s degree in any field or equivalent practical experience is required.
• K-12 EdTech, SaaS, high-reliability systems, high-volume systems, or mission-driven software experience is advantageous.
• Experience with distributed teams, organizational team changes, engineering excellence programs, or leadership development is advantageous.

Travel Requirements

• Travel is expected to be less than 10%.

Compensation

• The salary range is $130,000–$150,000 plus an 8% annual bonus.
