Role Overview
Oversee day-to-day workshop operations for maintenance, repair, and fabrication activities.
Ensure vessels’ machinery and systems meet international marine standards, statutory and regulatory requirements, company policies, HSE, and IMS requirements.
Coordinate workshop teams and vessel engineering teams to support reliable vessel performance and minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage workshop maintenance and repair work to meet schedule, budget, and quality standards.
- Supervise technicians performing maintenance, repair, and overhaul of marine equipment and vessel systems.
- Plan, assign, and monitor daily activities and resource utilization.
- Maintain workshop records, including job cards, maintenance logs, equipment history, and inventory or spares tracking.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance planning with vessel Chief Engineers and technical teams.
- Coordinate inspection, testing, and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and deck machinery systems.
- Maintain the safe availability and condition of workshop tools, equipment, and facilities.
- Oversee PMS/AMOS updates and accurate records of maintenance activities and consumables usage.
- Provide technical guidance, performance feedback, and training support to workshop personnel.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field is preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in a marine or offshore workshop environment, including supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Good command of spoken and written English is required.
- Knowledge of HSE standards, workshop safety practices, and marine maintenance procedures is required.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals is required.
- Strong leadership, planning, communication, reporting, documentation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are required.
- Ability to work under pressure and consistently meet deadlines is required.
