Job Summary

Lead international logistics, shipping, import/export, and supply chain operations supporting a medical centre in the Republic of Nauru.

The role focuses on international movement of goods, customs, freight forwarders, suppliers, and challenging logistics routes.

The successful candidate will independently solve problems and take ownership of logistics operations.

Role Details

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end international logistics and shipping for medical supplies, equipment, pharmaceuticals, consumables, and other operational requirements.
  • Coordinate air, sea, and land freight from international suppliers to Nauru.
  • Manage import/export documentation, customs clearance, freight forwarding, shipping schedules, and delivery requirements.
  • Resolve delays, shipment disruptions, customs issues, route changes, and supplier problems independently.
  • Manage relationships with freight forwarders, shipping companies, customs agents, suppliers, and logistics partners.
  • Plan shipments according to urgency, cost, availability, lead times, and operational requirements.
  • Monitor shipments from origin to final destination and ensure timely delivery.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments to ensure goods are available when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business, or a related field, or a diploma in one of these areas.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of relevant logistics and international shipping experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with international freight, import/export, customs clearance, and cross-border logistics.
  • Experience managing air and sea freight and working with international freight forwarders.
  • Strong understanding of shipping documentation, customs procedures, Incoterms, freight costs, and international supply chains.
  • Ability to independently solve complex logistics and transportation problems.
  • Strong negotiation, coordination, planning, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a remote or challenging logistics environment.

Preferred Background

  • Experience in UN agencies, NGOs, humanitarian logistics, disaster-response supply chains, international aid organisations, or similar environments is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with WFP, UNHCR, UNICEF, IOM, IFRC, international NGOs, humanitarian supply chains, or international relief operations is highly advantageous.
  • Experience with Dubai-based humanitarian logistics hubs, international freight operations, or global supply chain centres is encouraged.
