Laboratory Manager- Naoero Deployment

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily hospital laboratory operations and ensure accurate, reliable, and timely test processing and reporting.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate laboratory staff and support their professional development.
• Develop laboratory policies, procedures, and standard operating protocols.
• Ensure compliance with quality systems, accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, occupational safety, infection prevention, and biohazard standards.
• Monitor quality control and quality assurance programs across laboratory sections.
• Coordinate maintenance, calibration, and validation of laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Manage inventory, supplies, reagents, and procurement requirements.
• Ensure proper specimen collection, handling, storage, and disposal.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care.
• Prepare operational reports, performance metrics, and budget recommendations.
• Lead initiatives to improve laboratory efficiency, safety, and service quality.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
• A master's degree in Laboratory Management, Healthcare Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Five to seven years of laboratory experience, including at least three years in supervision or management.
• Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare facility, diagnostic laboratory, or medical centre is required.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory quality assurance, quality control, and accreditation standards.
• Experience managing hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, and blood banking services.
• Demonstrated leadership, staff management, and operational planning skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification or registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technologist in the candidate's home country is preferred.
• Experience with laboratory information systems and electronic medical records is preferred.
• Familiarity with international accreditation standards and quality management systems is preferred.
