Role Overview
Naoero Medical Centre is seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager to lead and oversee hospital laboratory operations.
The role focuses on accurate, timely, and high-quality laboratory services, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, resources, equipment, and processes.
This is an international relocation opportunity for a laboratory professional with strong leadership experience in a hospital, medical centre, diagnostic laboratory, or healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily hospital laboratory operations and ensure accurate, reliable, and timely test processing and reporting.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate laboratory staff and support their professional development.
- Develop laboratory policies, procedures, and standard operating protocols.
- Ensure compliance with quality systems, accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, occupational safety, infection prevention, and biohazard standards.
- Monitor quality control and quality assurance programs across laboratory sections.
- Coordinate maintenance, calibration, and validation of laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Manage inventory, supplies, reagents, and procurement requirements.
- Ensure proper specimen collection, handling, storage, and disposal.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care.
- Prepare operational reports, performance metrics, and budget recommendations.
- Lead initiatives to improve laboratory efficiency, safety, and service quality.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- A master's degree in Laboratory Management, Healthcare Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Five to seven years of laboratory experience, including at least three years in supervision or management.
- Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare facility, diagnostic laboratory, or medical centre is required.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory quality assurance, quality control, and accreditation standards.
- Experience managing hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, and blood banking services.
- Demonstrated leadership, staff management, and operational planning skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technologist in the candidate's home country is preferred.
- Experience with laboratory information systems and electronic medical records is preferred.
- Familiarity with international accreditation standards and quality management systems is preferred.
