Job Description

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and maintain the long‑term roadmap, architectural strategy, and modernization initiatives for the Linux environment.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a high‑performing Linux Engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Establish governance, standards, and best practices for system configuration, patching, security hardening, change control, documentation, and automation.
• Manage budgets, licensing, vendor relationships, and procurement for Linux‑related technologies.

Operational Excellence And Infrastructure Management

• Lead the support, administration, and maintenance of all Linux servers, both physical and virtual, across the client infrastructure.
• Install, configure, and maintain infrastructure components in virtualized and on‑premises Linux environments.
• Plan and execute operating system upgrades, application migrations, kernel updates, and hardware refresh programs.
• Fully manage the installation, configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting of Linux systems in hybrid environments that include on‑premises infrastructure and cloud platforms.
• Provide mission support in both classified and unclassified Linux desktop and server environments.
• Ensure system stability, uptime, and performance through proactive monitoring, tuning, capacity planning, and preventive maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with internal security policies, regulatory requirements, and Linux hardening standards.
• Architecture and Engineering
• Manage the architectural design and operational framework for the enterprise Linux environment.
• Develop and maintain system‑level tools, utilities, and automations using shell scripting (Bash) and Python.
• Design and support high‑frequency trading (HFT) and low‑latency Linux infrastructure components with emphasis on performance and reliability.
• Drive adoption of automation and Infrastructure‑as‑Code using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and other configuration management solutions.
• Lead integration and migration of workloads into cloud and hybrid environments.
• Oversee system‑level improvements, tuning, module integration, and performance optimization.

Performance, Reliability, and Testing

• Analyze Linux systems, conduct performance benchmarking, and perform usability and stress testing to ensure platform health and compliance with performance, scalability, and security expectations.
• Ensure environments supporting trading systems meet low‑latency, high‑availability, and deterministic performance requirements.

Troubleshooting, Incident Management, and Support

• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of failures, incidents, and critical alerts across the Linux server estate.
• Act as the highest‑level escalation point for complex issues affecting production, pre‑production, and development environments.
• Drive root cause analysis and implement long‑term corrective actions.
• Provide high‑quality support to internal partners with a focus on resilience, operational excellence, and reliability.

Scripting, Automation, and Tools

• Write, maintain, and troubleshoot shell scripts and Python scripts for automation, orchestration, and system efficiency.
• Enhance automation for patching, deployments, configuration, and monitoring.
