Hiring Range: $68,038.00 - $78,000.00 Annually Hours/Schedule: M-F 8:00 - 4:30 This is a flexible/hybrid position with the flexible work schedule to be determined after the probationary period. The City of Durham’s Finance Department promotes sound management and stewardship of taxpayer dollars by helping the City Council, City Manager and City departments manage their financial resources and leading risk management administration and training. If sound fiscal management is what you’re about, join our team! This position is part of the Risk Management Division of the Finance Department. The Risk Management team aims to provide a safe environment for employees and the public it serves. Our goal is to prevent and minimize the financial impact of losses and reduce the frequency and severity of injuries to employees and residents. As a self-insured entity, the Risk Management Analyst will investigate, evaluate, and process property & casualty claims made against the City. Such claims may be self-administered by the Risk Management Analyst or processed in conjunction with the City’s third party administrator. Additionally, this position is responsible for facilitating subrogation recovery for damaged City vehicles and property losses, providing self-insured fiscal management, applying governmental immunity, implementing prevention and loss control strategies, and providing training to internal customers. Decision-making includes providing input in risk management objectives, development and improvement of claim filing processes, data collection and analytics, and liability determinations. Incumbents should provide professional, journey-level work in auto and general liability claims including property damage, bodily injury, subrogation, and interpreting and applying insurance standards and policies. Prior municipal insurance program administration is preferred but not required.
