About The Job

  • Provides legal advice and services to the General Counsel, Associate General Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel on existing maritime and offshore operations, including contracts, and new projects and transactions.
  • Ensures conformity with laws and regulations, drafts, reviews and amends legal opinions, agreements and documents.
  • Works with the General Counsel, Associate General Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel to manage and supervise all corporate and commercial legal affairs.
  • Assists with the development and review of documentation for all commercial, corporate and transactional matters within the maritime and offshore sectors.
  • Assists with the legal functions pertaining to disputes, arbitration, litigation, contract drafting, contract review and all other maritime related corporate and commercial functions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provides legal counsel and advice to the General Counsel, Associate General Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel with regard to maritime and offshore commercial, corporate and transactional matters.
  • Drafts, reviews, interprets and amends legal opinions, agreements, letters, memos, submissions and any other relevant documents.
  • Assists in providing the legal functions particularly in development and implementation of common legal practices and joint strategies.
  • Attends internal company committees and meetings as required.
  • Assists with external legal counsel services related to contractual advice, contract disputes.
  • Coordinates with Corporate Governance Department on corporate governance matters.
  • Coordinates with Compliance Department on compliance matters.
  • Provides legal advice to ensure maritime and offshore commercial and corporate activities comply with applicable law.
  • Assists in advising on all company disputes relating to maritime and offshore contracts.
  • Performs other similar duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience preferably in top international law/consultancy firms and/or local or international blue chip corporates.
  • Experience in Shipping/Maritime/Logistics industry
  • Excellent English language (written and spoken).
  • Professional Certifications
  • Must be a qualified lawyer (English/common law or civil law jurisdiction)
