Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Own architecture and technical direction for the ActivePipe platform, ETL pipelines, and PHP integration services.
• Lead design reviews and RFCs for Kafka topology, ETL idempotency, GraphQL evolution, and data contracts.
• Write code, review complex pull requests, and debug significant incidents.
• Set engineering standards for testing, observability, deployments, and on-call quality.
• Coach engineers, run interview loops, and manage onboarding plans.
• Run planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives, and quarterly OKR planning.
• Own delivery commitments, estimation accuracy, scope discipline, and release timing.
• Represent the team in cross-team initiatives and global engineering collaborations.
• Drive incident response, post-incident learning, on-call readiness, and platform reliability.

Required Skills

• At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience and at least 2 years leading a team of 3 or more engineers are required.
• Deep production experience with Ruby on Rails is required.
• Strong systems thinking across distributed systems, event-driven architecture, ETL or data pipelines, and SQL at scale is required.
• Hands-on Kafka or an equivalent streaming platform and Sidekiq or equivalent background processing experience is required.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and relational database design, optimization, and migration safety is required.
• Experience mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and running hiring loops is required.
• Excellent written communication and comfort working across teams and time zones are required.
• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience is required.

Nice to Have

• Experience in real estate, MLS, CRM, MarTech, or another high-volume data-driven SaaS domain is preferred.
• Familiarity with RESO Data Dictionary, RESO Web API, or RETS is preferred.
• GraphQL schema stewardship, AWS infrastructure literacy, or SRE and observability experience is preferred.
• Experience leading a polyglot Ruby and PHP or Ruby and JVM or Go team is preferred.
