Job Purpose
Set up, program, and operate manual and CNC lathe machines to manufacture precision metal and plastic parts.
Perform first-level troubleshooting and quality inspections to meet blueprint specifications and production targets.
Key Accountabilities
- Interpret engineering drawings and select fixtures, cutting tools, machine speeds, and feeds.
- Load CNC programs or configure manual lathe settings for each job.
- Independently run production lots on manual and CNC lathes.
- Monitor machining parameters and adjust them to maintain part tolerances.
- Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Diagnose chatter, tool wear, and other common machining issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance through cleaning and lubrication.
- Coordinate repairs with maintenance teams.
- Assist in training Lathe Operator I staff on setup, tooling changes, and safety protocols.
- Record production data, machine downtime, and scrap rates in the ERP system.
Qualifications and Experience
- A technical diploma in machining or an equivalent certification is required.
- Two to four years of experience operating manual and CNC lathes in manufacturing is preferred.
- Proficiency in CNC programming and manual lathe operation is required.
