Laboratory Technician 1

Laboratory support

• Dispose of laboratory waste in accordance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organisation, and supplies inventory.
• Assist with method implementation, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
• Meet productivity, quality, turnaround time, and data integrity expectations.

Qualifications

• An associate degree in chemistry, environmental science, biology, or a related scientific field is preferred.
• Equivalent laboratory experience may be considered.
• Basic understanding of chemistry laboratory techniques and scientific principles is required.
• Ability to follow written procedures accurately, use basic computer applications, and complete data entry is required.
• Previous environmental laboratory experience and familiarity with inorganic methods are preferred.
• Experience with LIMS and knowledge of ISO 17025 requirements are preferred.

Physical and safety requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift and carry up to 40 pounds is required.
• The role involves repetitive pipetting, weighing, and sample handling motions.
• Ability to work safely with acids, bases, and other laboratory chemicals is required.
• Required PPE includes safety glasses, gloves, and laboratory coats.

Working environment

• The role is performed in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
• The position requires independent work and collaboration with a laboratory team.
