Job Purpose

Lead and provide expert guidance in interior design for rail stations.

Ensure designs meet RTA safety, sustainability, accessibility, and aesthetic standards.

Drive design excellence from concept through construction and commissioning.

Strategy

  • Review, evaluate, and recommend design proposals based on design merit, suitability, and Dubai and RTA vision.
  • Review regulations and guidelines for rail and mass transit systems in interior design, architecture, and construction.
  • Oversee planning and design standards, technical requirements, and specifications for rail and mass transit projects.
  • Monitor emerging trends, materials, and innovations to improve passenger experience, energy efficiency, and functionality.
  • Represent the Rail Agency in technical forums, governmental committees, and professional organizations.

Operations

  • Audit interior design submissions and related architectural, structural, and landscape elements for compliance with RTA standards and project requirements.
  • Validate final designs, materials, and manufacturer specifications before consultant and contractor engagement.
  • Attend technical inspections, factory acceptance tests, and site visits to verify installation and manufacturing compliance.
  • Review designs for passenger-flow impacts and station modifications resulting from increased ridership.
  • Review signage, wayfinding, directional, commercial, and intermodal connectivity submissions.
  • Review modifications to existing rail projects and prepare improvement studies for identified issues.

Process Improvement

  • Apply value engineering to optimize cost efficiency without compromising quality or passenger experience.
  • Improve interior design processes, material selections, and specification standards.
  • Enhance design documentation, BIM standards, and digital design review systems.
  • Document knowledge, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Conduct design feasibility studies and technical evaluations for new or upgraded rail station interiors.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent site visits to rail stations, construction sites, and manufacturing facilities are required.
  • The role may require design meetings, factory acceptance tests, field inspections, and technical audits outside normal working hours.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in interior design, architecture, or a related field.
