IT Infrastructure Engineer

Role Overview

Data Centre Management

• Manage capacity planning, racking, cabling, power, cooling, and physical security.
• Maintain documentation, asset inventories, and rack diagrams.
• Execute hardware refreshes, firmware upgrades, patching, and decommissioning.
• Define backup, monitoring, and disaster recovery practices.

Network and Security Hardware

• Configure and manage firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and servers.
• Maintain VLANs, routing, VPNs, firewall rules, ACLs, and secure remote access.
• Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and VPN issues and remediate root causes.
• Monitor infrastructure performance and security posture and respond to incidents.

Procurement

• Own requirements gathering, vendor evaluation, quotations, purchase orders, delivery, asset tagging, and lifecycle tracking.
• Manage OEM, distributor, and reseller relationships and negotiate pricing, warranties, and support contracts.
• Track budgets, renewals, and hardware forecasts.

Hybrid Networking and Azure

• Design and operate hybrid networking between on-premises infrastructure and Azure.
• Manage VNets, subnets, peering, ExpressRoute or VPN gateways, NSGs, and route tables.
• Implement secure segmented architectures aligned with least-privilege and zero-trust principles.
• Operate Azure compute, storage, networking, and identity workloads.

Microsoft 365 Administration

• Administer Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Teams Admin Centre.
• Manage device enrollment, configuration, compliance, applications, and Autopilot through Intune.
• Manage SharePoint permissions, external sharing, and information governance.
• Manage identities, groups, conditional access, and licensing in Entra ID.

Required Skills and Experience

• Hands-on experience managing on-premises data centre infrastructure.
• Experience with enterprise firewalls, switches, and wireless access points.
• Experience with IT hardware procurement, vendor management, and asset lifecycle.
• Networking experience across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Microsoft 365 administration experience across Intune, SharePoint, Teams, Exchange Online, and Entra ID.
• Experience operating workloads in Microsoft Azure.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, ownership, and independence.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Terraform experience for Azure infrastructure.
• Relevant Microsoft, Cisco, or vendor firewall certifications.
• Monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery tooling experience.
• PowerShell or Bash scripting for administrative automation.
