Position overview

Inventory Control Clerk I position in the US - Distribution department in Newton, New Jersey.

Contributes to receiving and monitoring inventory to meet demand forecasts and corporate financial objectives.

Works under general supervision and may occasionally perform duties at other Thorlabs locations.

Workplace

  • Workplace is on-site in Newton, New Jersey.
  • Work may involve moderate or occasionally high noise, repetitive tasks, standing or sitting for long durations, and physical movement of materials.
  • Employees must use appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment, including masks, glasses, gloves, or specialty garments.

Essential job functions

  • Read production orders and related inventory documents.
  • Operate barcode scanning equipment.
  • Perform daily cycle counts as needed.
  • Put inventory into stock through the RFSmart scanner process.
  • Execute physical product transfers.
  • Replenish locations from overflow inventory.
  • Assist Inventory Clerk Level II and III with projects.
  • Cross-train in picking, packing, RAF, receiving, and related distribution functions.
  • Meet company standards for quantity and quality of work and follow company policies and procedures.

Qualifications and skills

  • Minimal prior manufacturing experience with specialized inventory control experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent work experience.
  • Basic knowledge of shipping pick-list processes.
  • Familiarity with D365 or another ERP system and RFSmart.
  • Strong attention to detail, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand written work instructions and use basic mathematics and analytical skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to lift or move objects up to 35 pounds and climb a step ladder.
  • Ability to safely handle workplace materials and equipment while using required protective equipment.

Compensation

  • The hourly rate for this position is $19.36.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, company-paid life insurance, paid time off, 401(k), and tuition reimbursement.
