Role Overview
Electrical Engineer II supporting new product development for microscope systems, precision scientific instruments, and imaging hardware.
The role works with a global cross-functional team developing complex hardware with software for image acquisition, processing, system control, and calibration.
Responsibilities
- Develop electro-opto, electro-mechanical, and electronic designs for new products, scientific instruments, and peripherals.
- Take designs from concept through prototyping, debugging, manufacturing, and production support.
- Create bills of material, engineering drawings, testing requirements, tooling, material specifications, and thin-film coating specifications.
- Manage project timelines, costs, electronic component vendors, and contract manufacturers.
- Troubleshoot electronics-related system issues and provide circuit simulations when required.
- Develop manufacturing test plans and fixtures and support production troubleshooting.
- Participate in technical discussions with customers, sales, and field service members.
Qualifications
- Five to nine years of electronics design experience in motion control, scientific, biotech, medical, or semiconductor instrumentation.
- MS degree in Electrical Engineering, with five or more years of experience accepted as a substitute.
- Experience with Altium Designer schematic capture and PCB layout, impedance-controlled PCB routing, analog and digital low-noise design, simulation, and implementation.
- Experience with power electronics and troubleshooting electronic issues in instruments.
- Familiarity with optoelectronic circuits, control systems, and integration of subsystems into imaging systems.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, initiative, multitasking ability, flexibility, and adaptability.
Compensation
- The estimated annual pay range is USD 84,000 to USD 110,000.

- The position is on-site in Sterling, Virginia.
