Responsibilities
- Collaborate with faculty and subject matter experts to design, develop, and revise online, blended, and face to face courses
- Apply instructional design principles to create engaging and effective learning experiences
- Develop course structures, learning activities, assessments, and instructional materials aligned with learning outcomes
- Assist faculty in integrating educational technologies and innovative teaching strategies
- Design and develop multimedia learning resources, interactive content, and digital learning materials
- Ensure instructional materials comply with accessibility standards, accreditation requirements, and quality assurance guidelines
- Review and evaluate existing courses and provide recommendations for improvement
- Support curriculum mapping, learning outcomes assessment, and course quality review initiatives
- Develop templates, standards, and guidelines for course design and online learning delivery
- Provide training and consultation to faculty regarding instructional design, online teaching, and educational technologies
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Education, Learning Sciences, or related field
- Minimum of 3 5 years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, e learning, or educational technology
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of instructional design models such as ADDIE, Backward Design, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
- Strong understanding of online learning pedagogy and adult learning principles
- Experience with course authoring and content development tools
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive learning practices
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
- Master's degree preferred
- Experience within a higher education institution preferred

Position Summary
- The American University in the Emirates (AUE) is seeking a creative and innovative Instructional Designer to support the development, enhancement, and continuous improvement of teaching and learning experiences across the University.
- The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty members, subject matter experts, and academic departments to design, develop, and evaluate engaging, learner centered instructional materials and online learning experiences.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Education, Learning Sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 5 years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, e learning, or educational technology.
- Experience within a higher education institution is preferred.
- Experience designing online, blended, and technology enhanced learning environments.
- Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, or similar platforms.
Skills / Training / Knowledge
- Knowledge of instructional design models such as ADDIE, Backward Design, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
- Strong understanding of online learning pedagogy and adult learning principles.
- Experience with course authoring and content development tools.
- Proficiency in Learning Management Systems and educational technologies.

- Experience with multimedia development, video based learning, and interactive content creation is an advantage.
