Role Overview
The Human Resources (HR) Generalist will provide comprehensive HR support to the operational divisions, working closely with the HR Business Partner and collaborating with Corporate HR teams, including Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, and Health & Safety. The role covers recruitment support, employee relations, performance management, payroll and benefits administration, and compliance with federal and provincial employment regulations. The HR Generalist acts as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, supporting a positive work environment and contributing to the division’s operational and strategic objectives.
Location
This position is based at the Etobicoke, Ontario location, but will work wth the HRBP to provide HR support for 3 local GTA faclities and 2 Western Canada facilities with a total of approximately 400 employees.
Reporting Structure
This position reports to the HR Business Partner, Central Region and will collaborate closely with the General Manager, regional management teams, and employees across the business.

Lead recruitment processes in collaboration with the Talent Acquisition team, including job postings, candidate sourcing & screening, interviews, and reference and background checks.
Prepare job descriptions, job offers, and other related agreements.
Facilitate onboarding and integration of new employees, including orientation programs and initial training coordination.
Maintain accurate recruitment and employee records, ensuring compliance with company and legal requirements.
Employee Relations & Performance Management:
Provide guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation.
Support performance review processes, ensuring alignment with corporate HR policies and fair evaluation practices.
Assist in managing employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.
Foster employee engagement by organizing and participating in engagement initiatives, communication campaigns, and recognition programs.
Lead and coordinate the local engagement committee, planning events, activities, and programs that strengthen team cohesion and morale.
Act as a point of contact for employee inquiries, promoting a positive work environment and engagement initiatives.
Compensation & Benefits:
Work with the Total Rewards team to support benefits administration.
Education employees on benefit programs, address benefits inquiries, and support enrollment activities, including detailed explanations of plan options and coverage.
Manage annual compensation reviews and related processes.
Ensure job descriptions are regularly updated to support accurate job evaluations and alignment within the compensation framework.
Ensure compliance with company policies and Ontario labor standards.
HR Administration & Reporting:
Track and report on HR KPIs, including turnover, job requisitions, new hires, retention rates, health & safety incidents, and other metrics or reports to support workforce planning.
Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HR documentation.
Generate HR reports for management and corporate teams.
Assist with audits and compliance reporting
Training & Development:
Support training initiatives and employee development programs in coordination with Corporate HR team.
Promote continuous learning and development within the division.
Assist in tracking training completion, certifications, and development plans.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
Collaborate with Corporate Health & Safety and the operations team to ensure workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
Participate in the development, improvement, and implementation of Health & Safety programs.
Participate as a member of joint health and safety committees (JHSC) to ensure compliance with required legislation
Support employee accommodations, return-to-work programs, and other health-related HR initiatives.
Act as a liaison for WSIB claims, ensuring proper documentation, follow-up, and compliance with provincial regulations in collaboration with our H&S Mutual.
Manage WSIB claims and disability files, coordinating with Health & Safety, medical providers, and managers to ensure timely accommodation, return-to-work plans, and regulatory compliance.
Participate in workplace hazard assessments and help implement preventive measures to reduce risks and incidents.
Promote health and safety awareness among employees through training, communication, and follow-up on corrective actions.
Assist in incident investigations and ensure proper documentation and reporting to the Ministry of Labour when required.
Payroll Coordination
Serve as the main liaison between the division and the payroll team for employee data updates.
Ensure all employee-related changes are accurately communicated to payroll, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, promotions, and changes in personal information (address, banking, etc.).
Assist employees with payroll-related inquiries and escalate issues to the payroll team as needed.
Special Projects:
Participate in HR-related projects as assigned by the HRBP and/or Corporate HR.
Support cross-functional initiatives to optimize HR operations within the division.
Ensure successful implementation and communication of new initiatives across the division
Candidate Requirements & Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management is ideal, but a minimum of a diploma or other formal training in Human Resources is required.
Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation or in-process an asset.
2-5 years of work experience in HR, with exposure to multiple HR areas.
Experience in recruitment, health & safety, and manufacturing preferred.
Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail required.
Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and company policies with the ability to provide guidance and recommendations.
Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain lasting relationships across departments, regions, and with external stakeholders.
