Role Overview

The HRIS Specialist administers, maintains, and improves human resources information systems supporting the Alberta Sheriffs Police Service.

The role connects HR operations, payroll, workforce planning, and HCM technology in a developing 24/7 public safety organization.

The position supports reliable HR data, system processes, reporting tools, and digital workflows for sworn and civilian employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and improve HRIS, HCM, and related HR technology.
  • Maintain employee, position, scheduling, training, certification, leave, overtime, and workforce data.
  • Configure, test, troubleshoot, and support workflows, access, upgrades, and integrations.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and analytics for staffing, compliance, workforce planning, and operations.
  • Protect confidential employee information and maintain privacy, records, security, and data quality controls.
  • Support tracking of training, clearances, qualifications, deployments, and readiness.
  • Provide user support, documentation, training, troubleshooting, and process improvement.
  • Collaborate with HR, IT, Payroll, Finance, operations, vendors, and implementation partners.

Required Qualifications

  • A university degree or diploma in human resources management, business administration, information technology, information management, data analytics, public administration, or a related discipline is required.
  • Four years of related experience are required.
  • A related two-year diploma with six years of related experience or a related one-year certificate with seven years of related experience may satisfy equivalency requirements.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis under the stated equivalency rules.
  • A valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s licence or equivalent is required.
  • Final candidates must undergo security screening.

Assets and Competencies

  • HRIS/HCM administration, configuration, implementation, testing, data validation, workflow management, and issue resolution are considered assets.
  • Experience with HR operations, workforce data, payroll, benefits, scheduling, reporting, or process improvement is considered an asset.
  • Experience in regulated, public sector, unionized, policing, or emergency services environments is considered an asset.

Schedule and Employment

  • This is one permanent, full-time position.
  • The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for 36.25 hours per week.
  • The position is in person in Calgary.

Compensation

  • Salary is CAD 82,168 to CAD 107,710 per year, equivalent to CAD 3,148.20 to CAD 4,126.82 bi-weekly.
